Prepared for Round 1 of World Supercross!

Firepower Honda is all set for the kick-off of the World Supercross Championship, marking a monumental season for the team’s global program. The is committed to more than 45 events this year, and this weekend they are in Vancouver, Canada for the opening round of WSX, and focused on consistency as more than 100 points are up for grabs at each round.

In SX2 free practice, Shane McElrath secured the 2nd fastest time, just two-tenths of a second from the leader, while Cole Thompson set the 4th fastest time. McElrath was pleased with his performance, especially as he found his rhythm toward the end of the session as the track conditions shifted.
“It’s reassuring to know we’re on pace,” said McElrath. “I wasn’t aiming for a quick lap; I wanted to get comfortable on the track and bike. This weekend is all about consistency; we have a lot of racing ahead. We need to make the Super Final, and with the four round championship offering the same points as 17 AMA Supercross rounds, we have to be smart.”

Thompson also used practice to fine-tune his bike setup and adjust to the track conditions.
“I’ve been racing in Australia where the bike setup is a bit different. We’re experimenting, and I wanted to take my time,” Thompson said. “The track is technical and tacky; I’m looking forward to tomorrow night.”

In SX1, Joey Savatgy posted the 2nd fastest time on the 2025 CRF450R, while teammate Dean Wilson secured the 5th spot, with both riders focused on dialling in the track for tomorrow night’s racing. Savatgy paid close attention to track deterioration and line selections, while Wilson made several adjustments before finding his rhythm.

“I took my time today; the grip is unexpectedly high,” said Savatgy. “I tried different things, and my quickest lap was my second to last. I was just finding my rhythm and building confidence.”

Wilson echoed similar thoughts:
“The track is technical, and I was experimenting with different rhythms,” he said. “I’m happy with my pace; starts and consistent laps will be crucial tomorrow, and there seem to be some good passing sections.”
